Thankfully Out of Control

As we approach the Thanksgiving holidays, I want to remind you that we serve a God who is totally and completely the antithesis of controlling.  In Christ Jesus, we have become the adopted, Spirit-filled, growing-up children of the ONE who does not intimidate, dominate, or manipulate at all.  Those fallen, satanic traits are utterly opposite the character and nature of Almighty God.   There is absolutely nothing of control–domination, intimidation, or manipulation–in the Person of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  For all of us weary of the game playing, posturing, and pushing that defines un- and under-sanctified living, this “lack of control” in God is something to truly be thankful for!

If God doesn’t “control”, how does He rule and reign?

  • In love, which is the very essence of who He is, and the very opposite of domination
  • In humility, as displayed in Jesus’ perfect humility, the opposite of intimidation
  • In truth, as in “the Spirit of Truth”, which is the opposite of manipulation, as well as the basis of true freedom…

Thankfully, we serve a God who is love, who is humility, and who is truth.  There is no game-playing in Him.  Our relationship with God never looks like the game of Rock/Paper/Scissors.  In the Lord we have an absolute foundation of truth, love, and humility, and in Him we never lose, because in Him we don’t play games!

For all these reasons and for so many more, I am truly grateful to be “dressed in”–purely by grace–Father’s love, Messiah’s humility, and Spirit’s truth…  Oh, the beauty of our control-free Triune God!

Happy and Holy Thanksgiving to you!
