Craig Green was born November 17, 1959, the fifth of six children born to J.R. and Shirley Green of Hays, Kansas. Craig graduated from Hays High School in 1977, after serving his senior year as Student Body President. He then completed a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double-major in History and Political Science from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas in 1981.
In 1984, Craig had a powerful encounter with God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit at a Catholic Healing Mass. By revelation knowledge, he suddenly knew that Jesus is alive, that Jesus is God, and that Jesus loved him. The transformation from church-goer to Christian was amazing, and Craig grew and served as a disciple in both the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, especially as a part of the Glory of Zion Prayer Group in Antioch, Tennessee, and in the United Methodist Renewal (Aldersgate Renewal Ministries). In 1985 he moved to Nashville Tennessee, and in 1986, he married Christina Faye Irby of Bogue, Kansas. They settled in Nashville, and started ServiceMaster LawnCare of Nashville, which grew to be the third-largest franchise nationally in the ServiceMaster LawnCare system by the time they sold it in 1993.
Craig and Tina were blessed with four wonderful children: Karen, in 1987; Joey, in 1989; Mary Catherine, in 1993; and Matthew, in 1996. Each of the children are active in ministry, having experienced relationally the living God. In 1992, Craig and Tina felt called of the Lord and entered the United Methodist ministry. Craig graduated from Vanderbilt Divinity School in 1995, and was ordained an Elder in full connection in 1997. He served the Lascassas United Methodist Church from 1992 until 2001, and has served as Senior Pastor at Livingston First United Methodist since 2001.
From 1997 until 1999, Craig enjoyed and completed the Beeson Institute for Advanced Church Leadership program at Asbury Theological Seminary. In 2004, Craig entered the Doctor of Ministry program at the King’s College and Seminary in Van Nuys, California, earning his Doctor of Ministry in June of 2007.
Craig, Tina, and the rest of the family continue to serve the Lord in the Upper Cumberland area of Middle Tennessee.
